Men's T-Shirts & Tanks

Men's t-shirts and tanks for everyday, training and the outdoors, from soft organic-cotton tees to technical, quick-drying performance shirts. Our range features Just Another Fisherman, Patagonia, The North Face and Columbia, with everyday staples and active tops that move with you.

The fabric is the main decision. Cotton and cotton blends are soft and casual for everyday wear; merino wool regulates temperature, resists odour and works brilliantly for travel and active use; and synthetic performance fabrics wick sweat and dry fast for training and hot days. Tanks add cooling and freedom for the gym and summer. Think about the fabric and fit for how you will wear it, and layer them under a shirt, hoodie or jacket as the weather cools.

Frequently asked questions about men's t-shirts & tanks

What is the best t-shirt fabric for everyday versus exercise?

For everyday wear, cotton and cotton blends are soft and comfortable. For exercise, avoid cotton, as it soaks up sweat and stays wet, and choose merino or synthetic instead. Merino regulates temperature and resists odour, making it a superb all-rounder, while synthetics wick and dry fastest for hard training. A good approach is cotton for casual days and merino or technical tees for anything active.

Are merino t-shirts worth it?

For a lot of people, yes. Merino tees regulate temperature so they work across seasons, resist odour so you can wear them multiple times between washes, and feel soft rather than itchy. That makes them brilliant for travel and active use, where one shirt does a lot. They cost more than a basic cotton tee, but the versatility and odour resistance often justify it, especially for travel and the outdoors.

How should a t-shirt fit?

It comes down to the look you want, but a classic guide is the seam sitting right at the edge of your shoulder, the body skimming rather than clinging or draping, and the sleeve ending around mid-bicep. Performance tees for exercise often fit closer to help wicking, while everyday tees can be more relaxed. Try the fit against how you will wear it, layered or on its own.

What is the difference between a tank and a t-shirt for training?

A tank leaves the shoulders and arms bare, which maximises cooling and freedom of movement, making it popular for the gym, lifting and hot-weather training. A t-shirt covers the shoulders, offering a little sun protection and a more versatile look. For pure heat management and range of motion a tank wins; for versatility and coverage, a tee is the safer everyday pick.

Do technical t-shirts really keep you cooler and drier?

Yes, noticeably, once you are working hard. Technical fabrics wick sweat away from your skin to the outside of the shirt where it evaporates, so you feel drier and cooler than in cotton, which holds moisture against you. The difference is most obvious during exercise and in heat. For everyday low-sweat wear the benefit is smaller, which is why cotton is still fine for casual use.

How do I stop cotton tees from shrinking or fading?

Wash them cool and inside out, which protects the print and colour, and avoid hot washes and hot tumble drying, which are what shrink cotton. Air drying is gentlest of all and keeps the fit and colour longest. Washing dark colours together and not over-drying goes a long way to keeping a cotton tee looking new for far longer.

Can I wear a technical tee as a base layer under a jacket?

Yes, a snug merino or synthetic tee makes a great base layer, moving sweat off your skin so your mid-layer and jacket work better. Cotton is a poor base layer because it holds moisture and chills you. For cool-weather layering, start with a technical or merino tee, add a fleece or hoodie, and finish with a jacket on top.
