Built with G1 duralumin for exceptional durability, the MONOCOQUE BODY design accommodates a larger, thicker gear—10% larger and 6% thicker than the previous model. The new crank-shaped design directs the line smoothly to the line roller without fail. The redesigned shape and spring mechanism enhance opening and closing angles, preventing unintentional bail movement. This improvement significantly enhances line feeding to the roller, especially during jigging and while the line is tensioned.
This is used for Models 18000 and above. Drags that use carbon washers are highly durable, but DRD takes it to another level with a new drag mechanism designed to target larger fish. What size braid and leader do you recommend?
For the 10000-P, consider PE4-6 braid on 300 m+ spools and a 50-80 lb mono/fluoro leader. Match it with a 6'6?-7'6? jig rod rated 200-350 g or the equivalent in stick or overhead style.
Is the reel maintenance-heavy offshore?
No, thanks to the Magsealed system and tightly sealed Monocoque body you get excellent seasonal corrosion protection. A rinse after use and a check of the drag stack should suffice between trips.
