Built with G1 duralumin for exceptional durability, the MONOCOQUE BODY design accommodates a larger, thicker gear—10% larger and 6% thicker than the previous model. The POWERDRIVE ROTOR ensures that each turn of the handle translates into a smoother, more powerful retrieve, even under extreme pressure.
ALWAYS IN CONTROL
The new crank-shaped design directs the line smoothly to the line roller without fail. The redesigned shape and spring mechanism enhance opening and closing angles, preventing unintentional bail movement. This improvement significantly enhances line feeding to the roller, especially during jigging and while the line is tensioned.
This is used for Models 18000 and above. Drags that use carbon washers are highly durable, but DRD takes it to another level with a new drag mechanism designed to target larger fish. What rod and line suit the 8000-P?
PE3-4 braid on a 5'6"-6'3" jig rod rated to approx. 200-350g works well for NZ kingfish and deep reef work.
How is the 8000-P different from the 8000-H?
The P is lower geared (4.8:1 approx 94 cm/turn) for torque and jig control; the H is faster (5.6:1) for casting and quick line pick-up.
Is it fully sealed?
It uses Magsealed barriers and Magsealed bearings at key ingress points for excellent water resistance; routine care is still recommended after each trip.
