Camp Showers

A camp shower makes longer trips far more comfortable, a proper wash at the end of a dusty or salty day. Our range covers solar shower bags, battery and pump showers, and gas units from Companion and Gasmate for genuine hot water, plus shower tents for privacy.

Choose based on whether you want instant hot water or a simpler rinse, and how much water and power you have. Pair a shower with a privacy tent, and think about where the water will drain. It is one of the upgrades campers rarely regret.

Frequently asked questions about camp showers

How much water does a camp shower use?

A quick, water-wise camp shower uses only a few litres, far less than a home shower. Solar bags typically hold 10 to 20 litres, enough for one or two rinse-style showers. Turning the water off while you soap up stretches a tank across more washes.

Solar, gas or pump camp shower, which should I choose?

Solar showers are cheapest and simplest but rely on a sunny day to warm up. Pump and battery showers pressurise water from any container for a better flow. Gas showers heat water on demand for a genuine hot shower anywhere, at a higher price. Match it to how much comfort you want off-grid.

Do I need a shower tent for privacy?

At most campsites, yes, a pop-up shower tent gives you privacy and a dry place to change, and doubles as a portable toilet enclosure. It packs down small and makes a camp shower genuinely usable rather than a novelty.

How long does a solar shower take to heat up?

On a sunny day, a solar shower bag left out for a few hours can reach a pleasantly warm temperature, lay it flat in direct sun with the clear side up for best results. On cloudy days it will only take the chill off, which is where a gas shower earns its keep.

Can I use a camp shower for dishes and washing gear too?

Absolutely. A pressurised or gas camp shower is handy for rinsing sandy feet, muddy boots, dishes and gear, not just people. Many campers value them as much for the clean-up jobs as for showering.

How do I dispose of shower water responsibly?

Use biodegradable soap and drain grey water well away from waterways, lakes and streams, ideally onto soil that can filter it, following any local site rules. Keeping wash water away from water sources protects the places we camp in.
