About Snow Peak
Snow Peak was founded in 1958 in Sanjo, in Niigata, Japan, by mountaineer Yukio Yamai, who began designing climbing gear because the equipment available at the time did not meet his standards. Sanjo is famous for its metalworking craftsmanship, and that heritage runs through Snow Peak's products, from titanium mugs to steel fire pits. Over the decades Snow Peak grew from climbing gear into tents, furniture and camp kitchen gear, becoming one of Japan's most respected outdoor brands.
Snow Peak's philosophy is that time outdoors, especially around a fire, brings people closer to nature and to each other, and its gear is designed to make that time comfortable, beautiful and lasting.
Tents and shelters
The Amenity Dome is one of Snow Peak's best known tents, a stable, easy to pitch dome in small and medium sizes for two to four people, with a matching mat and sheet set. The Land Lock is a spacious tent for families and longer stays, with an inner mat available, and the Land Nest Tarp Set creates a shaded living area for cooking and relaxing.
Snow Peak tents are designed with a modular approach, so tents, tarps and furniture can be combined into a comfortable campsite.
Fire, furniture and tableware
Takibi, the Japanese word for bonfire, is central to Snow Peak. The Pack and Carry Fireplace is a folding stainless steel fire pit, sold in starter sets, and the Takibi My Table and Jikaro Fire Ring Table let you gather around the fire with somewhere to put food and drinks. The Snow Peak Folding Chair, Mesh Folding Chair and Low Beach Chair are comfortable, well made camp seats.
In the camp kitchen, Ti-Double wall mugs and bowls keep drinks and food hot without burning your hands, Ti-Single cups are ultralight, and the Tableware Set brings plates and bowls to the table. The Campfield Futon adds comfort to your sleep. At Land & Sea our team can help you build a Snow Peak campsite piece by piece.
Frequently asked questions about Snow Peak
Where is Snow Peak from?
Snow Peak is a Japanese outdoor brand founded in 1958 in Sanjo, Niigata, a city famous for its metalworking craftsmanship. It was started by mountaineer Yukio Yamai, who designed his own climbing gear, and it has grown into one of Japan's most respected makers of tents, camp furniture, fire pits and cookware. Many Snow Peak products are still made with the precision and care that Sanjo is known for.
What is the Snow Peak Amenity Dome?
The Snow Peak Amenity Dome is a stable dome tent designed for car camping and family trips, available in small and medium sizes for around two to four people. It has a vestibule for gear and good ventilation, and it is known for being easy to pitch. A matching Amenity Dome Mat and Sheet Set adds comfort and protects the floor. It is one of Snow Peak's most popular tents.
What is takibi?
Takibi is the Japanese word for bonfire, and for Snow Peak it represents the experience of gathering around a fire outdoors. Snow Peak designs fire pits, such as the Pack and Carry Fireplace, and fire tables, such as the Takibi My Table and Jikaro Fire Ring Table, so people can enjoy a fire safely, cook over it and share time together. Always follow local fire restrictions and use a fire pit on a stable, non-flammable surface.
Why choose a titanium mug?
Titanium is very light, strong and corrosion resistant, and it does not affect the taste of drinks, which makes it ideal for camping and tramping. Snow Peak Ti-Double wall mugs have two layers with an air gap, keeping drinks hot for longer and the outside cool to hold, while Ti-Single cups can be heated directly on a stove. Titanium mugs last for many years and are easy to clean.
What is the Snow Peak Pack and Carry Fireplace?
The Snow Peak Pack and Carry Fireplace is a folding stainless steel fire pit that opens into an inverted pyramid shape, which supports a good airflow for a clean burning fire and folds flat for transport. Starter sets bundle the fireplace with matching accessories, so you are ready to light a fire and cook over it. It is a durable, long lasting fire pit designed for regular use at the campsite and at home.
Is Snow Peak gear worth the price?
Snow Peak gear is priced at the premium end, reflecting its quality materials, careful craftsmanship and long lasting design. Many products, such as titanium mugs, stainless steel fire pits and well built tents, are designed to be used for years or decades rather than replaced every few seasons. If you camp often and value durable, beautiful gear, Snow Peak can be a worthwhile investment.
