About Dometic
Dometic is a Swedish company whose roots go back to the 1920s and the invention of absorption refrigeration, a way of keeping food cold without a compressor. That heritage in cooling grew into a business built around what Dometic calls mobile living: helping people eat, sleep and live comfortably on the road, at sea and in the outdoors, whether in a 4WD, a caravan, a boat or a campsite.
Today Dometic is best known for portable fridge freezers and premium chilly bins, along with camp cooking, furniture and outdoor gear.
Fridges and chilly bins
The CFX5 range is Dometic's flagship line of portable compressor fridge freezers. They run on 12V or 24V in a vehicle and 240V at home, and come in sizes from the compact CFX5-25 and CFX5-35 through the CFX5-45 to the CFX5-55IM, which includes an ice maker, and the dual zone CFX5-75DZ and CFX5-95DZ, which can run a fridge and a freezer at the same time. The CFX2-45 offers a more affordable option.
For trips without power, the Cool-Ice heavy duty chilly bins come in sizes from 15L to over 100L. Their thick insulation and tight sealing lids keep ice for days, and accessories such as seat cushions, baskets and a bottle opener make them more useful around camp.
Camp cooking, rooftop tents and Dometic at Land & Sea
Dometic owns CADAC, and the CADAC 2 Cook 3 Pro Deluxe is a portable two burner camp cooker for family meals, alongside the CADAC Skottel. The TRT 140 AIR is an inflatable rooftop tent with air beams instead of poles, and it has a matching awning. The GO range includes the GO Compact camping chair and bench seat and the GO Hydration water jug, and the Gale 12V electric pump inflates air beams and airbeds.

What does DZ mean on a Dometic fridge?
DZ stands for dual zone. Dual zone Dometic fridges, such as the CFX5-75DZ and CFX5-95DZ, have two separate compartments that can be set to different temperatures, so you can run one side as a fridge and the other as a freezer, or both as fridges. That gives you frozen food and ice alongside chilled drinks and fresh food, which is ideal for long trips and remote travel.
How long does a Dometic Cool-Ice chilly bin keep ice?
Dometic Cool-Ice heavy duty chilly bins have thick insulation and tight sealing lids designed to keep ice for several days in the right conditions. How long ice lasts depends on the size of the bin, the starting temperature of the contents, how often it is opened and how hot it is. Pre-chill the bin, use block ice, keep it in the shade and open it as little as possible for the best results.
Can a Dometic CFX5 run on solar power?
Yes. Dometic CFX5 fridges run on 12V or 24V DC, so they can be powered from a vehicle's auxiliary battery or a portable power station that is charged by solar panels. How long it runs depends on battery capacity, solar input, the fridge size, the set temperature and the outside temperature. The Dometic TRT 140 AIR is an inflatable rooftop tent that mounts on a vehicle's roof rack. Instead of metal poles, it uses inflatable air beams that you pump up, which makes setup quick and gives a strong, flexible structure. It provides a raised sleeping space off the ground, and a matching awning adds shade and shelter beside the vehicle. Always check your roof rack and vehicle roof load ratings first.
What is a CADAC camp cooker?
CADAC is a camping cookware brand owned by Dometic, best known for portable gas cookers. The CADAC 2 Cook 3 Pro Deluxe is a two burner camp cooker with a selection of cooking surfaces, so you can grill, fry and boil at the same time for family meals at the campsite or the bach.
