Chums boasts a rich maritime legacy that traces back to 1983 when inventor Mike Taggett, driven by the frustration of witnessing customers lose their sunglasses in the depths of the Colorado River, conceived the idea for the Original Cotton Chums and are now well known for their fishing eyewear retainers. In a resourceful move, Taggett, residing in the confines of a VW van armed with a $60 sewing machine, initiated the production of the inaugural series of Chums. This marks the genesis of a brand that has since become synonymous with keeping eyewear secure on the water
